Nourishing Moisture Mist For Natural Hair: A How-To

With the winter months upon us, our hair and skin can take a beating. I, for one, have experienced more dryness this season than usual, causing me to have to reach into my arsenal for some great hair & skin remedies. For natural hair, the extreme weather can be especially trying, as often, our hair usually battles with dryness. I blended some all natural heavy-hitters into my spray bottle to give my hair added moisture, softness & shine. I also wanted to prevent and repair any damage that the extreme temperatures could cause. Here are the details:

Nourishing Moisture Mist:

  • 1 Cup Distilled Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil (if your hair isn't protein sensitive)
  • 1 Teaspoon Argan Oil

A few drops of your favorite essential oil (Lavender, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Rose or Tea Tree are great options)
This moisture mist is great for adding moisture to dry and brittle hair. You can use it instead of plain H2O to moisturize your hair. Not only does your hair receive vital moisture, it also benefits from the conditioning benefits of the oils and essential oils in this blend.

  • Olive oil is a great restorative oil for the hair, imparting shine, coating the hair strand for protection, and imparting nourishment to the hair for softer hair.
  • Coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft, imparting amazing conditioning benefits while repairing damage.
  • Argan oil is amazing for the hair, repairing damage, improving the elasticity of the hair while preventing breakage. All of the essential oils mentioned above condition the hair, aiding in growth while adding an amazing scent which adds a sense of luxury to your hair care rituals.

Add this blend to a plastic re-usable spray bottle and spray onto the hair when your hair needs extra moisture. Be sure to use it within a day or two, and make a fresh batch if you don't use within a few days.

You can use this nourishing mist when you're styling your hair in braids or twists. Mist your hair with this blend, then apply an oil or butter to seal the moisture into your hair. It's important to apply an oil or butter to seal in the moisture, as water quickly evaporates from the hair. I personally use Moisture & Styling Butter to seal and style my tresses. Proceed with styling, and your hair will have protection from the elements while maintaining moisture and softness.

You can use this Nourishing Moisture Mist all winter long to keep your hair healthy, protected & moisturized. Please let me know if you use this, and how it worked for you!
